Mike Grahek has been painting for over 30 years and paints in a style similar to the California School watercolorists. He has studied under Milford Zornes and many other professional artists. He continues to refine his watercolor style by trying out new ways to communicate his impressions of the world to the viewer. He often paints “plein air” and is inspired by the beauty of the central coast. In 2023 he began trying a new style in which the basic shapes of his painting are slightly abstracted into puzzle like shapes. Mike is a signature member of the Central Coast Watercolor Society and has been a guest artist demonstrating his painting style and ideas to the watercolor group. He has shown his work in the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art and Morro Bay Art Association for over 20 years, and his work is in several private collections.
